“It's okay to die,”

the knife whispers to the vein,

“It feels good
It feels nothing
It feels nice to die.”

and to the fingers,
the knife croons,

“It's okay to cut
Deeper and deeper
Press my close to the wrist
Just like that
It tastes sweet
So sweet.”

but the moon objects to the knife
in her dreamy voice,

“Don't deceive, knife
Don't lie, blade”

and to the deceived,
the moon encourages,

Listen, child, not to knife
Listen, child, to I
It is not okay to die
It is okay only to move
It is not okay to cut
Deeper and Deeper
It is only okay to heal.”

and the stars shimmer in agreement,
chiming their silver and wind,

“Yes, lovely, listen to us
You gotta get up off your knees
And shine
Like us!
It's okay to cry
But you always gotta glow
Even when you're blue!”

and the fireflies pause
to sing to her,

“You need to dance
We dare you to dance
We dare you to get up
Off of your knees
And move
AND DANCE
.”

the fireflies weave and burn
as they press onwards,

“Walking is not enough
Running is not enough
Walking is the bare minimum
And you never rush through life
We dare you to sing
And laugh
And spin
AND DANCE
.”
